British banker pleads not guilty to murdering two women in Hong Kong

No comments :
A British banker on Monday pleaded not guilty to the murder of two women whose mutilated bodies were found in his Hong Kong apartment, local media reported.

Rurik Jutting, 30, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility for the deaths of Indonesian migrant workers, Sumarti Ningsih and Seneng Mujiasih, in 2014.

Ningsih was found dead on the floor of Jutting’s apartment, on the 31st floor of a luxury apartment building, with knife wounds to her neck and buttocks.

The decomposing body of Mujiasih was found stuffed in a suitcase on the balcony of the former Bank of America Merrill Lynch employee’s flat.
The deaths shocked Hong Kong, a city which has a reputation for safety, and highlighted the difficulties faced by migrant workers.

The victims were among the over 300,000 female domestic migrant workers that are employed throughout the city as maids, although at the time of their deaths they were not working as such.

The judge warned that gruesome images would be presented as evidence during the trial, which is scheduled to continue until November 11.
